After many many flight delays I made it to Massachusetts!
Once I got to Boston we stopped at Five Horses for a drink and I have to go back! The cornbread was amazing and I’ve been thinking about it for at least a week now. We stopped at Lindsey’s to say hi and see her apartment before we picked up Chinese food and wine for the night. We watched Ali Wong’s Netflix special and fell asleep.
I woke up in Wakefield on Wednesday and I was able to do a 7-mile run there before Molly and I got breakfast and I headed back to Sandwich. I got to watch my brothers play soccer on Cape, it felt nice to be in weather that was a little more bearable.
On Thursday ran 5 miles as soon as I woke up and then drove to Scituate to hang out with my people. We stopped at Lucky Finn for coffee and walked around the harbor. I didn’t stay too long because I wanted to see Matt and Lauren when they got to the house!
Vivian picked up some new records for her collection 🙂
And I stopped by to meet the McCartneys new puppy Lola!
For dinner we decided to do a pizza tour of Sandwich. We got one pizza from Two Brothers, one from Meetinghouse, and another from Graziella’s. We did a taste test and I’m pretty sure Two Brothers won! Although we did get different flavors from each pizza place so some might say we had two many independent variables…
Friday started off with a low 3 mile run and then Peter and I went to the beach nice and early. Everyone else showed up a few hours later, which was good because when we first got there it was really cloudy/foggy! The sun burned it off pretty quickly though.
We got sandwiches and chips from Lamberts 🙂
The long beach day made me SO tired, it felt amazing to take a cold shower and put on dry clothes. Matt, Lauren, and I watched The Office until we heard people starting to grill downstairs. Hooray for my dad wanting to grill 24/7!!
We played about a million rounds of Codenames before going to bed. Lauren and I woke up bright and early and ran 6.2 miles before going to Nantucket 🙂 I wish I could do all my long runs with her, it would be so much easier!
We lucked out with the weather because all week it had been calling for rain and thunderstorms all day, but it held off until we were leaving at night.
We bought stuff to make sandwich from Stop and Shop and then headed to Cisco Brewery. It was packed! We didn’t really end up getting to sit down but we were talking the whole time anyways.
We got an early dinner after the brewery and then walked around the docks.
We stopped for ice cream at the Juicery before we left on the 8pm ferry. I had been looking forward to this day for a while, I was sad it was over!
My original plan was to have Molly and Julia visit me on Cape on Sunday but I was so tired from Nantucket (and every other day) that we rescheduled and I pretty much read for the entirety of the day after my run. I finished all the books I brought for the trip!
I met molly for coffee in the afternoon and that was the highlight of my day 🙂
On Monday I had more energy so I was able to actually do more than just sit on the couch. I had given my mom a couch to 5k plan during the end of the school year so we ran the 4th of July 5k route on our own. It was so fun and she really impressed me!
Later on Molly, Julia, and I met up in Boston instead before my flight in the morning.
We went to Committee for dinner and shared about 4 plates. It was a best food, best atmosphere, best people kind of situation.
Julia and I both ordered the frosé, and I ended up making it homemade for the 4th of July too because it was so good! Mine didn’t look as pretty though.
Then we went to (the Sky Lounge I think?) for a drink before I went back to Scituate before my early flight. I’m definitely glad I have one more trip back this summer so that I can see all of my people again, and next time Ian will be there too!
Once I got back I was pretty lazy for the next two days. We didn’t do too much on the 4th of July, most people we were with had work the next day so it was pretty low-key. We did grill, play with kittens, and stop for coffee though!
